M. Müller & Sohn Magazine 07-08.2022

The magazine specialized in fashion and pattern making is published ten times a year as a turnaround edition with topics on women’s and men’s fashion. The magazine is available for download in English. Each issue of M. Müller & Sohn magazine contains an enclosed sewing pattern.

On the women’s fashion pages, it’s all about visitors’ anticipation of the Oktoberfest in September and thus about traditional costume: on the catwalks, Dirndl mood is in the air! The Höfer company and weaving mill, now in its third generation, produce exclusive traditional costume and dirndl fabrics and talked they to us about what makes the family business so special, the challenges faced in recent years, the trend to modernise traditional costume and why resting on past success is not an option. At the European Master Tailor Congress (EMTC) in Dortmund, which also integrated the 56th Federal Congress of the Bespoke Tailor Trade, the visitors were inspired by the winning gowns designed by the competing young tailors. The event was particularly important for the exchange of ideas, which unfortunately was somewhat neglected during the pandemic.

On the menswear pages, we are very pleased to be part of this issue on our own behalf: the M. Müller & Sohn professional school for fashion und pattern making in Düsseldorf (M. Müller & Sohn Fachschule für Mode und Schnitttechnik) will be taken over by the Ebner Media Group, publishing house of our magazine, among a variety of other specialist content. For more than 100 years, the M. Müller & Sohn technical school has been teaching everything that is needed to train firstclass cutting technicians, directors or master tailors; what will change as a result of the takeover can be read in this issue. A good needle is elementary for a flawless sewing result, so we delve into the world of needles with the long-established company Ferd. SCHMETZ GmbH, imparting basic knowledge and revealing expert tips about the pointed precision tool. In Andreas Moller’s studio, the needles are rattling through the fabrics to make the right wardrobe for the many festivities that are taking place again; we visited the tailor in Weiden in the German Upper Palatinate.

The enclosed pattern contains four traditional costume vests for women (in European sizes 36 – 50).
