M. Müller & Sohn Magazine 11.2022

The magazine specialized in fashion and pattern making is published ten times a year as a turnaround edition with topics on women’s and men’s fashion. The magazine is available for download in English. Each issue of M. Müller & Sohn magazine contains an enclosed sewing pattern.

On the women’s fashion pages, we have dedicated ourselves to the current trend of “escaping the times” and explain in the pattern technique robes of the 18th century, how they differ, what details make them different and how they are constructed. In the portrait we introduce the three women who run the Hamburg Gewandwerk, who, despite being in business for almost twenty years, there are always things that they have never made in their studio before. The bodice is a frequent component of historical women’s clothing and therefore we take you on a step-by-step journey into the past in the processing section. And we would like to share with you our joy about the positive feedback and the registrations for our courses at the School of Fashion and Pattern Technology and we are looking forward to welcoming the students at the brand-new Hamburg location from January onwards!

On the menswear pages, we portray the young menswear tailor Anna Meyer, who created the name for her studio »Biedermeyer« from her fascination for the variety of shapes and colours of the Biedermeier period as well as her surname, where she makes both bespoke pieces for individual customers and costumes for the theatre. In our pattern technique and knowledge section we also devote ourselves to historical material: the pattern technique deals with three pieces from the Rococo period, consisting of justaucorps, waistcoat and culotte. And we summarise what and when the breeches originated and how they have evolved to the present day. For all those who would like to delve even deeper into the world of historical patterns, we recommend our reference book »Historical Patterns«. If you are looking for a warm coat to match the increasingly cold temperatures of today, you will find inspiration in the Designer Looks.

The enclosed pattern contains two denim trousers for men (in European sizes 46 – 56).
