The magazine specialized in fashion and pattern making is published ten times a year as a turnaround edition with topics on women’s and men’s fashion. The magazine is available for download in English. Each issue of M. Müller & Sohn magazine contains an enclosed sewing pattern.

On the designer look pages of women’s fashion we take a look at the back of the latest catwalk looks, which reveals many possibilities for surprises and not infrequently shows the hidden leading role of the creations. Here you will find inspiration for a creative back design. We continue with a garment that is also not immediately visible: underwear. Dorothé Klotz has been a leading expert on lingerie and bras for over 25 years. She advises international companies on the development of perfectly fitting lingerie. In the article starting on page 6 you will learn more about the importance of pattern technique and current lingerie trends. Afterwards, we give you an insight into an exhibition at the Deggendorf Handicrafts Museum. The exhibition “A woman’s life in the 20th century – the example of the tailor Hilde Niederländer” contributes to the visibility of women whose life achievements have remained hidden until today. The life of tailor Hilde Niederländer is representative of the lives of many women in Lower Bavaria at that time.

In this issue’s pattern technique we show pattern constructions of elegant lingerie and classy nightwear. These include a body with corsage details, a set of underwire bra and a briefs, a nightgown with a gathered bustier and tied straps as well as a sleep set consisting of a top and shorts. Below you will find sewing instructions. In this article we show you how to insert the classic two-seam sleeve for the blazer, including shoulder pads.

On the menswear designer look pages, we show a fashion trend in which elements of different garments are combined with each other to create unusual fabric combinations. This clothing remix trend is a clear homage to designer Junya Watanabe, who is a pioneer in the field of patchwork design. In the following portrait, we introduce you to the young start-up “Woolwind”, which has developed an innovative concept for classical conductor’s tailcoats and concert suits. The lightness and elasticity of Woolwind’s tailcoats make them feel like comfortable, functional sportswear and give musicians the maximum freedom of movement they need when playing.

The pattern technique is about historical men’s fashion from the time of the Renaissance. In this article you will find the basic pattern blocks for a pair of knee breeches and a doublet, and you will also see the pattern development of a pair of knee breeches and a doublet with bands on the sleeves. Afterwards we introduce the young designer Lukas Krob. In the interview he reveals what inspires him and how he shapes his career from craft to design. Under the heading Briefly Introduced, we talk about the textile estate of Duke Moritz of Saxe-Lauenburg. This historical wardrobe is being researched by an interdisciplinary team of historians and representatives from Hanover University of Applied Sciences and Arts under the project title “Moritz aus Buxtehude”.
