Borders and ribbons are an effective decoration that combines two different fabrics (Fig. 1).
The concept consists of stitching strips, ribbons or borders of a solid fabric onto a fine transparent fabric (chiffon or net fabric) (Fig. 2). A mix of structures usually looks very different. Processing is easier if the basic fabric is not elastic. When using ribbons, as well as stripes in a straight grain (made of trimmed fabric), it is not possible to stitch these only straight onto the cut piece. If curved lines are desired, narrow diagonal stripes made of trim should be used. The narrower the stripes, the more curved the decorative lines can be.
